Interval‑Distance Notator

Pitch as a number measured from “home.” Rhythm as a slice of a circle. Harmony as rings that nest or break. Build a phrase, drag the home note, and watch every number recompute.

Every note becomes its semitone-distance from “home” (0). Pick the tonic — this is the only thing that ever needs re-stating when the music changes key.

Home = E
← changing this re-zeroes every number below instantly

Tap pitches to add them to the sequence (default: quarter-note). The gold-ringed pitch is home — its number is always 0. Try the True Voice theme preset, or build your own.

Upload a photo of a simple melodic line — a hand-drawn contour, a single-staff sketch, or a row of dots/marks at varying heights. The notator traces the darkest mark in each vertical column, reduces it to a contour, and quantizes that contour into a pitch sequence relative to your chosen home. This works best on high-contrast, single-line sketches — it is a contour tracer, not a full optical-music-recognition system, and dense or multi-stave images won't transcribe cleanly.

Traced contour → quantized pitch steps

Numbers above each note are semitone-distances from home. The contour line shows melodic shape directly. Below: harmony rings for the implied triad — rings that nest cleanly are consonant; a ring forced off-centre marks a dissonant interval.
